The Lamborghini Gallardo was unveiled at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It was designed by Luc Donckerwolke, head of Lamborghini Design. The car is named after a famous breed of fighting bull. The Spanish word gallardo translates into "gallant," and from Italian into "striking". The car was an immediate success.

The production spyder model of the Gallardo was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2006. It is considered by Lamborghini to be an entirely new model. Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer was the first person in North America to take delivery of the Gallardo Spyder.

This Gallardo is equipped with the 520-horsepower mid-engine transversely mounted all-aluminum 40-valve V10 engine, all-wheel drive, and the highly desirable 6-speed “E-Gear” transmission, an advanced electro-hydraulically controlled semi-automatic robotized manual transmission. E-Gear allows the driver to make shifts much faster than a manual transmission would. The driver shifts up and down via paddles behind the steering wheel, with no manual clutch.

Among the most striking of all available color combinations is the one on this car – Giallo Halys (non-metallic bright yellow) over Nero Perseus (black) hand-made leather interior, with matching yellow piping and interior stitching. To protect this beautiful paint finish, it has been fitted with clear film protector on the front of the body.
